Last Day of My Year...

Firstly yesterday was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's birthday. If he was still living we would have been 250 years old. He is really gifted in music. He started composing at the age of 5. At that age I have not even know what the piano is much less talk about composing. Within the short span of 35 years of his life he managed to compose more than 600 works. Really a Master in his art form.

At the same time at Belmore Park, I saw the official launch of CNY. They has a small stage, some food stalls and some performers from China. Well to me it was not quite up to scratch. I would have to say I have seen better lion dance and dragon dance troupes. The dragon was a little short and thin. And erm... it was a bit broken. The three lions in red, yellow and white was well lively but not enough. The pillars that the white lion stood on was not that high. And they did not do enough stunts. As the chinese family beside me said the "dot the eyes" ceremony was done wrongly. The lions were supposed to stay still and bust to life after the ceremony. But at Belmore , the lions danced in and then did the ceremony with the VIP then laid back and ended. Erm.... maybe it is different here? What can I say? But I have to pity the two guys playing the part of the lions back for the red and yellow lion. As many (I really do mean a LOT) of people young and old, male or female went up to caress their butts or the lions' butts. Some went like "smack" right on. Poor guys worst they have to continue with the performance. Then came the fortune god. Hurray! I went up to take an ang-pow from him. I think this will be the only one I get this year. It contains two chocolates coins wrapped in golden paper. I am planning to keep it to the 15th lunar day just for good luck. The highlight was the firecrackers. This is the first time I have seen them this up close. They are really LOUD. This noise is said to scare off bad luck to give us a better start for a prosperous Lunar New Year.

Now for today. Went for reunion dinner at Eating World with C and K. Ended the day with a trip to Star City. As secs tick away we will say farewell to the Year of the Green Wooden Chicken ursher in the Year of the Red Fire Dog.
