Tawain Delights

I was at Lot1 these evening when I saw a new stall in the new food court on level 4, Tawain Delights. Well decided to give it a try. Order the pork chop rice. The pork chop was a little hard to bite through and rather oily. But that was not the main thing. The display of it in a japanese bento box with the 2 different preserved vegs, stir fry lettuce, rice and pork, suddenly memories came gushing back. The corner stall in Sydney near the lift lobby near the pork stall., near the escalator, Along the same street as Haymarket, the thai supermarket and the Pacific hotel. (More or less there. Could only remember these few places beside it.)

It will be pack to the rim full of customers. The food still average but price quite worth it. The lady will take your order at the door and hand you the slip of yellow order sheet. Then it is time to wait it out till your number is called. Esp the rice taste exactly the same as that. Memories came flowing back. Looking at the empty chairs besides me I realised again that " Being alone is only when there are empty chairs around you."

In the this week's episode of Tuesday Report Patient No.1 was revealed. She is brave. I salute you. I don't think I can be as strong as you have been. Wishing you all the best the many more good times ahead.

Say No to Shark Fins. Resorts World at Sentosa will not be serving it on their menus in their resturant. BUT a big but here. It will be available to high rollers who spend lots in their casinos. So well... Mmmm.... one of the first few after Hong Kong Disneyland, but why the exception? Ok... A step forward is better then none rite?

In the tech world, after HTC and IPhone comes Blackberry with touch functions. And Windows 7 in 2010 also with what it calls "Muti-Touch". So there goes your mouse and keyboard. Everything via touch, zooming photos, fliping pages, spinning etc. Wonder how much will it cost? Will it be like Vista that not much people have liked and stayed with XP? Well we will have to wait for a few years more to know.

I have 300 more years (not that I can life that long) to visit Leaning Tower od Pisa, Italy. The Italian engineers have after untilt it to what is was in 1700. It has been reported that it is the first time since the 12th century (making that like ....erm... I not too sure how long ago) that the tower stopped moving. The massive project started in 1990 and ended in 2001 to untilt it by 40 cm. Built between 1174 and 1370 the tower was closed to public during the whole untilting process. Wah rite? Better visit is soon

Suwîto rein: Shinigami no seido

I watch the movie last weekend using the HSBC points (finally)! Yes yes the english title being Sweet Rain : Accuracy of Death. With some places know only as Accuracy of Death. Well the director, Masaya Kakei, added the word Sweet Rain to the front of the japanese title so also to totally differenshade from the recent hit movies Death Note which also featured Shinigami or japanese for death god (死神) . It is based on a novel of the same name by Ken Mitsuishi. It stars
Takeshi Kaneshiro in the leading role as Mr Chiba a Grim Reaper. Well the movie was not too bad. But they really milk Takeshi good looks dry in the movie. With 4 different looks in the movie (maybe made to appeal to the different likes of the ladies), all the love of music, the puppy look of his face sure to pull in the cash. This being his first japanese movie after a long while. To me his yakuza look was the best. If only I could get 1/2 of his looks ... I will not be single till now.

The movie is being divided into 3 different short stories but having a link between all of them. It was a little slow in the middle but overall still ok. Not forgeting the silky smooth beautiful black pet dog that he speaks to telepathically in the movie. It will filmed quite well I felt esp with all the raining scenes. I felt that the last part was shot the most beautifully esp the last scene on the cliff. Which brings us to his next movie Red Cliff.

You can get to see more of him in Red Cliff that the hitting the screens in July. And the 2nd part of the movie after the Beijing Games.

Never hurts to be nice

and then post The GSS is back...soon offically it is 23 May till 20 July. Which means it will start this Fri. But many shops are already in full gear withe the pre GSS and I am sure it will be followed by GSSGSS. But with the downturn sales at the POS may not be ringing all the way top the banks. Heading south it seems predicted by many. The nice people in sales might have already taken this into account therefore... It never hurts to have more sales rite? More discounts. More slashes to prices. More freebies. More etc...

On the other hand never hurts to have just that one more pair of shoes, pants, shirt, skirt, bag, sunglasses, hat, swimwear etc rite. Your wardrobe sure to have space for the one (or many be more then one) more item. the item that you have be longing for now for only 80%, 70% or maybe even 50% of the price. "GET IT NOW!" your mind says. "ELSE REGRET FOR LIFE!" pops up. "Never has it been priced lower then this!" echos in your head.

Not helping much is that, on Sunny Island, we have not much to do. Not much fun places to go. And these days with the weather so hot! Where is place to go to cool down? Shopping Centres! This is where the nice people at the mall will be up big huge posters to entice you to buy buy buy.

Ever wonder why GSS is in the hottest months? The nice people organising the event may have thought that it would be nice to have it during the school holidays. More people, more crowd, more scramble, more queues therefore maximizing the human crowd mentality. "She is getting that. Maybe I should too. He is buying that. Should I get one as well?"

Well it never hurts to be nice. Not at the moment that is not till you get your credit card bill next month that is. Then maybe it hurts like hell to your savings. to the lucky few who have be using cold hard cash to pay when then not worries for you then. You seem rich enough.

So with that said I hope to get a pair of leather slippers (as the current one is GOING to be spoilt.) Puma pumps (sure to find one nicer then the leaf one) ? Jeans? Shirts? Moccasins? Argh... I am procasinating. Nevermind me.

It never hurts to be nice. rite?

TMR.

Tomorrow is a public hoilday!!! Can sleep in again. Great rite. BTW went to watch IRONMAN. After buying the tick. Then saw the tiny little HSBC ad thats says you can use your pts to exchange for a tick. Argh... I should have used my HSBC pts. 1500 pts per tick it is ok as long as you watch the movie during the weekend or on a PH when it is $10. Should have see the little ad earlier. They should have made a SUPER HUGE ad aas big as those movie posters mah. But it is also mine fault cause they did sent me a rewards book 08, Just that I did not flip through it. Hee hee.

Anyway back to the movie. It was not too bad. Marvel first full-length movie. Previous they sold the rights to other big Hollywood studios (Blade, The Punisher, Spidey, DD, Elektra, Hulk, FF, X-men, Ghost Rider etc). They at Marvel must have realized what big money could be made. Not too bad at all the movie. No wonder they have also been signed for a second movie. There was jokes here and there action not too bad. Graphics good too. Well the storyline... as usual, a superhero movie so a little unbelievable but still ok. Not dark like Batman more of a bright look at Ironman, even the alcoholism that Tony faces is also toned down. But not there it is not there but just in a very subtle way, you will realize it. With "Next time baby." you can be sure War Machine will be in Ironman 2.

With the success of Ironman, hot on his heels will be another Hulk movie, Cap America, Punisher, Nick Fury, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Magneto, Thor, Antman, The First Avenger: Captain America etc. Actually at the post credits or Ironman if you stayed long enough, Marvel did reveal a bit. The SHIELD (Supreme Headquarters International Espionage Law-enforcement Division) , Avengers and Nick Fury. Opps... Did i give away too much?

If you were wondering why this not so late post, well it is because I am just back from HV from Coffee Bean from Mocha Ice Blend ...

New Direction, New Aim

Onwards, Forwards, Straight ahead I go. A new direction, a new path. Away with the old and embrace the new ways.

Oh...BTW if you have notice I changed the blog a little. Ney no one reading rite? No one here often. No one knows. But how much traffic can I expect form a boring blog rite. Not one of thoses super hit blogs. No sacy pics or news. Of course fly under under radar. Well I though it was a new try. Whats you view? Seems a little white washed. Mmm.... But was not too sure what goes with the theme of the bottles. Any ideas? The grey wolf says a little "hangy". But when I tried did not on mine PC.

Well... maybe it is a developers bug. It is always like that it works fine on the development side but when deployed it always always have some weird bugs. But... The BIGGEST BUT here is that whenever it is reported. It never seem to pop up on the developers side even if they follow all the steps of the users did. Or worst is that when the developer rush down to take a look at it. It works fine.

Back to the revamp, any comment do feel free to drop me a message.

Here comes it comes.

Running to the end of May. And here comes Miss June. What is there in Miss June and her brother July? Movies, Movies and more Movies.

Well first things first I have NOT , yes NOT, watch Ironman yet. Yet! is the word. Wanted to watch it after all the plus reviews, but it was fully booked so went to watch the $US 150 million movie "Speed Racer" by the Wachowski Brothers who brought us the Matrix. I felt that it was ok not too bad. Full of loud colours and effects just like a comic book. But did not seem to be bringing in the "CHA-SHING" cause it only made $ US 18.6 million at the box office. I really thought it was a good display of effects showing how the comic book will flow, with screen wipes and a BIG BIG splash of multi colors. Well... maybe it got to do with some asian actor in the movie? But shouldn't he be bringing in all the crowds? As he is a "megastar"....

Back to Miss June and Mr July. There will be....(drum rolls) The Happening, Sex and the City, Kung Fu Panda, Indiana Jones, Hellboy 2. Hulk, The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian, Red Cliff, The Dark Knight and The Mummy 3. And who can forget Accuracy of Death starring Takeshi Kaneshiro. Going awww and hooo?

Among the few I really would like to catch Accuracy of Death so that I can go ...(erm....) obverse reasons I will keep for some other time. Happening... Mmmm not so sure leh. Did not guite like his Village and Signs. Not to mention Lady in the water. Sex and the City....Neh. Kung Fu nope. Indiana...don't think so. Hellboy most prop yes. Cause the first one sure rocks. With all the tongue in the cheek and action. Hulk... a flat NO. TCON? Only for you I will go. Red Cilff... erm sama sama as Death loh. The Dark Knight a resounding YES. Even if it is just for Heath Ledger. But then again... now that cost more for a movie at $10... Maybe need to cut down even more. You should know with even thing going northwards.

Last week was a bad week morale was pitch black lower then the lowest pit, wet damp and freezing cold. I can see the end. But not the light at the end.

Lastly I sent mine condolences to all of China's monday's 7.9-magnitude quake victims and Myanmar Cyclone Nargis victims.

The number game

The Beijing Games will start at 08:08 pm on 08/08/08. And todays marks 88 more days before the games. We and the lucky 8. Oh.. How I wish it was really so simple. Getting a Blk 88 on Street 8, then on level 8 and unit number 8. And ... Oh and not to forget hp number with as many 8s as possible. And life will be fine. Also to add a car plate number with 8s also. If that really works then there will be no need to work hard now is there?

On another note, in ST today there is a report on the 4th batch of SMU students. Nearly all of them are landing jobs within 6 months. Get this! Their starting pay is $3,040. A 6.7% increase from Class of 06. There is more. Top 20% are getting starting salaries of $5,600! And the best is yet to come. The top 12% or 69 of the ex-students are earning between $4k - $10k!!! 10K! Wah. Freshshee leh. I wonder after 1 - 2 years of working in the investment banking, management consulting line when they get their increment bonus etc. They will be taking home like what 11K? 12K , 13 or 14 maybe 15K... And here I was thinking that a the economy is taking a downturn. Two-thirds got two to more than 10 job offers. Well the employment survey is done by the university themselves with 87% of the students responding or 618 out of the 711 students.

Accuracy you ask? I wonder...

Stumbling Block

At first it was one, then the second. Now all will be go different ways. Did we see it coming? Yes Yes Yes. For over a year but yet nothing was done. But it is the small fishes that get the biggest impact when the water changes. The big ones can still happily going on swinging. What to do? Nothing. Will just have to wait. But how I wish the ending would have been different. Given much like a little baby. But nothing was returned. A bit nudge would have been nice. Well come what come may. Hope it will be better. Going Going very fast now soon gone. FROZEN.
