Is 5th good enough?
Oh course! To me. That is on the world stage 5th. Not some neighborhood competition. Of course a medal would have been great after such a long time. But the with all the pressure build up we should understand. With our tiny island and small population (comparing to other much bigger countries) As long as she have given all that she has, I truly felt that she has done well. With our Sports School up that will come a day where we can do it. Really. On our own. Next up for us is the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010. But just before that to sort of test the system or a practice session is the Asian Youth Games in 2009, which will be between July 2 - 10. The YOG will have about 26 sports and 3,600 athletes, while the AYG will have about 1,000 athletes between the ages of 14 - 18. For those that may not be, so what should we say, sporty may try for the YOG logo competition.
Now for 4th. Yes! UNSW Asia left? Never mind. We can have our own. Our 4th fourth public-funded university will open its doors in 2011. In the first year it will take in about 500 students and increase this intake gradually till it hits 2,500. In 2015 it will located to Upper Changi Road East, next to the Changi Business Park. The plot of land, approximately 22.6 hectares, was previously set aside for the University of New South Wales Singapore campus. It is close to the current Expo MRT station and will be served also by the future Circle Line in 2016. It will also be served by both ECP and PIE. The interim campus location is not know yet. The cost of this? No budget has been set yet but is expected to run up to hundreds of millions of dollars. The effect? Limitless. Good with name? Then you can name this new, yet to be named, currently nameless or AKA 4th Uni here.
In food, Krispy Kreme will be in KL, Malaysia! By next year we can savour the famous glazed doughnuts. This is made possible by Berjaya Corporation Bhd, which will own 70% of unit rest being owned by Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation. The Corporation which also holds the franchise rights for Starbucks, Kenny Rogers and Wendy's plans to add 20 stores in Malaysia to the about 490 Krispy Kreme stores worldwide.
Mmm... wonder will/can one store come to Sunny Island? I WANT MINE KRISPY KREME!
