Why Don't I put a Smile On That Face.
Yes... During the weekend watched "The Dark Knight". It is quite good I would say. But a tad too long. The director Christopher Nolan did quite a good job, I must say. Both Batman Begins and the current are great movies. After I googled him then did I realise that he also directed Insomnia and Memento, both movies which I also like truly. (If you have not watched the movie you may not want to continue reading.)
Many of the characters main cast played their character quite well. Other than Heath Ledger great performance as Joker. (Mmm... A really dark portray of Joker. A Oscar worth performance?) Morgan Freeman (as Lucius) , Gary Oldman ( as Lt. James), Michael Caine ( as Alfred) , Aaron Eckhart (as Harvey/Two-Face) and of course Michael Caine ( as Bruce/Batman). All which I think did a great job in fleshing out their roles. Erm but personally did not quite like Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel. Felt that it lacked something. But could not really pinpoint down what that is. Oh there is a actor from our shores, that is Chin Han who plays the role Lau the Hong Kong the businessman who help the mafia to "account" for their money. Still not sure who? The one who appears in a telly in the movie to have a teleconference with the mafia in the kitchen of some sort and Joker appears starts to chat with them and makes a pen "disappear". Well he appears for quite a few scenes you can't quite miss him.
But that could not be said for the other guy who was in a "photo" scandal. The quite well-known Edison Chen. If you blink you are sure (guarantee plus chop with 5 year warranty) to miss him. So much about the role. I thought he was playing a "real" role in movie when he left HK to start afresh in Hollywood. Anyone could have done it. It is not even on the screen for more then what like 3 secs. So did you catch him in the movie? Still drawing a blank... Why? Cause the role he played does not even register in your mind. Ok let you in on it. He is the one who meets Morgan Freeman on the tarmac (this is a really far shot) and then the next scene is when he tell Morgan that the building has a no phone policy and he has to surrender his phone. It is like super short. You could not quite get him face before it is gone. I think even the security guards of Lau' building got more screen time. I must add that I am not sure if any have been edited out during the post production of the movie.
I would like to end off with I truly enjoyed the movie worth the ticket price in and at least a 4/5. To me the best part of the movie was the two ferry part. Great storyline showing hoe crazy the Joker was. Oh wonder will there be a third? What villains? I wonder...
